Devereaux – Ruth Dean Griffis Devereaux, age 85, of Callahan, FL went home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2021. She was born on June 20, 1936 to the late Ottis Griffis and Isabell Thornton Griffis. Ruth was a member of Callahan First Baptist Church and enjoyed attending services there along with singing in the choir.  One of Ruth's favorite traditions was having lunch after Sunday Services.  Ruth enjoyed vacationing with friends, traveling and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Devereaux; brothers, Raymond Griffis, Albert Griffis, Curtis Griffis; sisters, Valerie Griffis Jones, Vinnie Griffis Graham, Leottie Griffis Thornton; grandson, Clinton Stewart Devereaux.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Bobby Marcus Devereaux of Callahan, FL, Michael Anthony Devereaux, of Callahan, FL, Mitchell Ottis (Rhonda) Devereaux of Callahan, FL; daughter, Melissa Dean (David) Bedsole of Callahan, FL; brother, Colvin Griffis; sisters, Evon Griffis Byrge, Lydia Griffis Hart, Roxie Griffis Litton, Kathryn Griffis Wright; Linda Kimbrell; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Callahan First Baptist with Pastor Lynn Hyatt officiating.  Interment will follow at Jones Cemetery.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
