Mardis – Ruby Carol Mardis, age 82, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on June 6, 2023.  She was born in Etowah, Alabama to the late Rufus Veto Jarmon and Lillian Ella Elzora Stargel. Ruby and her late husband, Jim grew up in neighboring counties in Alabama, however, never knew it until their paths crossed at a gas station in Jacksonville, Florida.  While pumping gas, James couldn't help but notice Ruby's Alabama license plate which struck a conversation.  The conversation led to them dating for 2 or 3 months and then later wed on July 29, 1963.  It was fate from the start.  James and Ruby moved into their forever home in Jacksonville, Florida in the early 1970's.  They shared 52 beautiful years of marriage.  Ruby enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a huge Atlanta Braves fan.  More than anything, Ruby loved to spend time with her family who she loved dearly.  Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Roland Mardis.

Ruby leaves behind her children, Estelene (Randy)McMillon, Michelle (Jerry) Baker, Sabrina (Billy) Gorham; brothers, Johnny (Cindy) Jarmon, Alan (Linda) Jarmon, Ronald Jarmon; sisters, Debbie (Steven) Magoon, Patricia Barnhill, Sharon (Rick) Wise; grandchildren, Randy Kevin (Elizabeth) McMillon, Justin McMillon, Brandon (Bethany) Baker, Amanda Gorham, James Gorham; great grandchildren, Samantha, Tommy, Emily, Henry, Belle, River McMillon, Waverly, Adler Baker; and many nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Life Service for Ruby will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Nassau Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Jarmon officiating.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
