Roger "Owen"
Peterson
Jan 29, 1950 — Apr 22, 2024
Peterson - Roger "Owen" Peterson was the third of four children born to Roy and Eleanor Peterson on January 29, 1950. He grew up in Dinsmore, Florida where he attended local schools, learned how to hunt, fish, and developed a passion for farming and the outdoors. It's also where Owen met the love of his life, Victoria Jo Brand. At just 18 years old, Owen left for the Vietnam War, where he proudly served his country with distinction and honor. Owen returned home in 1970 and married his sweetheart. Together they moved to Callahan, Florida where they created a home and started a family. As a hardworking man, Owen spent hours making and creating things. Owen was an excellent woodworker and made furniture pieces that are cherished by family and friends. He was drawn to the outdoors. There he spent a lot of his time caring for his beloved chickens and his prized garden, producing beautiful flowers and tons of vegetables that he generously and often shared with others. Of the many things Owen made and did, his family was his best work. Owen loved his wife, to whom he was married nearly 54 years, and he loved his girls and his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Eleanor Peterson; sister Patsy Bryant.
Owen is survived by his wife, Vicky; daughters, Brandy Brandies, Alisha (Tub) Whitaker; grandchildren, Dylan (Hannah) Brandies, Brent Whitaker (Gracen), Laney Whitaker (Austin); great-granddaughter, Hazel Brandies and other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Brent Whitaker, Dylan Brandies, Austin James, Drew Peterson, Bubba Bryant, and Todd Colson. Honorary pallbearer will be John Grable.
The tribute above was prepared by Owen's loving family.
