Howell - Rodney Fain Howell, age 70, of Callahan, Florida passed away on May 11, 2022. He was born on October 6, 1951, in Norfolk, Virginia to William Carter Howell and Bessie Strickland Howell Tanner. Right out of high school, Rodney joined the United States Navy.  After being honorably discharged, he went on to becoming a welder/fabricator and worked for his fathers' company Howell's Engineering. Later, he became an x-ray welder for Exxon on an offshore oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. Rodney was very adventurous and traveled all over the United States usually with a pet dog at his side.  He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and liked motorcycles in his younger years. Rodney loved his country and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the Callahan Lions Club and a Master Mason with Callahan Masonic Lodge #32. Rodney was preceded in death by parents; brother- in- law, Carl Miller.

Rodney leaves behind sisters, Bonnie (Richard) Walden, Susan Miller; brother, Chuck Tanner; step- father, Charlie Tanner;two nieces; two nephews, and several grand nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service for Rodney will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered with Chaplain Jackie Hayes officiating.  Family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
