Bob was born on July 6, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to Robert Albert Zander and Gwendolyn Lambrecht Zander. Bob graduated from Southfield High School in Southfield, Michigan in 1966. He worked for several years as a radio DJ, served in the U.S. Navy for eight years, and retired from the United States Postal Service in 2003. Although he retired, he never really stopped working. He had a very strong work ethic, which he passed down to all three of his children. He was a member of Dinsmore Baptist Church for 40 years and served there as a deacon. He could always be counted on to lend his "radio voice" to narrate plays and performances at his church, and he looked forward to Dinsmore Baptist's annual "Kruisin' 4 Kids" car show. He was a faithful husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, and loyal friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gwen Zander; sister, Julie Zuby.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Gail Allen Zander; son, Eric Zander of Hilliard, FL; daughters, Melissa (Michael) Chambliss of Port Orange, FL, Christina (Daniel) Horton of Hilliard, FL; grandchildren, Lucy Chambliss, Tristan Horton, Abby Chambliss,  Aiden Horton; brother-in-law, Michael Zuby; brother-in-law, Gary Allen; nieces, Darlene Bidwell, Sheryl Bittner, Tina Marie Jenkins; nephew, Robert Johnson; several great-nieces and nephews; and many other beloved family members and friends.
