Scruggs – Robert E. Scruggs, age 86, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on October 12, 2023.  He was born on February 10, 1937, in Dinsmore, Florida to the late Knox Cleveland Scruggs and Dollie M. Jenkins Scruggs. Robert spent 5 years in the United State Army Reserves.  He was discharged on November 30, 1962. Robert worked for JEA and retired on May 19, 1996, as a supervisor in the Meter Reader department.  His extended family living close by played a big role in his life, especially as his health started declining.  His hobbies included stockcar racing, fishing, hunting and for the last several years was BEES. Robert is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Allane Wright, Opal Irene May; and nephew, Eugene May who raised Robert like his son.

Robert leaves behind his nephew, Larry (Julie) Wright, nieces, Debra (James) Tomlinson, Kimberly (Howard) Word; extended family, Del and Elsie Anglea, their children & grandchildren; Wayne and Nina Higginbotham and their family.

Pallbearers will be Brain Anglea, Garrett Anglea, Cliff Hutcheson, Hunter Hutcheson, Wayne Higginbotham, and Howard Word.

A Graveside Service for Robert will be Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Dinsmore Community Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Carter officiating.
