Robert "Bob"
Clineman, Sr.
Feb 2, 1940 — Sep 13, 2025
Robert "Bob" Clineman, Sr. — Marine Corps veteran, legendary Boy Scout leader, master of the garage fix, and all-around good guy passed away peacefully with family by his side; leaving behind a life full of stories, service, and people who loved him.
A proud United States Marine, Bob carried that strength, discipline, and dry humor with him throughout his life. For more than 25 years, Bob served as a Boy Scout leader, guiding young scouts with a compass of wisdom, kindness, and just the right amount of sarcasm. Bob also volunteered for many years with the Waretown First Aid Squad in New Jersey, where he became a life member — always ready to serve and support his community.
Bob's Garage wasn't just a workspace — it was a place where things got fixed, laughter was shared, and life lessons were handed out freely (whether you asked for them or not).
Bob is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann Rietheimer Clineman; parents, Hazel Clineman Meade and Frank Clineman; stepfather, William Meade; and sister, Phyllis Marie — all of whom we imagine he's already greeted with a bear hug and a joke.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Linda Clineman; his children, Robert Clineman, Jr., Brian (Denise) Clineman, David Clineman, Wayne Clineman, and Melanie (William) Wood; and his brother, Ken (Connie) Clineman. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Wayne (Mia) Clineman, Misty Clineman, Conor Clineman, and Abigail Wood — each one carrying a little bit of his humor, strength, and stubborn streak. Bob was also a proud great-grandfather to Melody and Harmony Gilbert, who brought him endless joy and pride.
Bob was the kind of grandfather whose lap was always open and whose belly made the perfect pillow — a soft place to land for tired heads during movies, naps, and lazy Sunday afternoons.
Add to that a whole crew of nephews, nieces, and chosen family — and you start to see just how big a space Bob filled in this world. He lived by his own kind of scout law: be helpful, be brave, always be prepared, and never turn down dessert. And in the wise words of Percy Jackson (a quote Bob would have definitely approved of): "With great power... comes great need to take a nap." And let's be honest — he deserved every nap.
Bob will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and talked about at cookouts and campfires for years to come.
The tribute above was prepared by Bob's loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service for Bob will be held by his family on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at #1 12th Street St. Augustine, FL 32080. In lieu of flowers or planting trees, we know Bob would much rather support his bonus daughter Bethany with her heroic fight against a brain tumor. Please use the link below to donate to Waves of Gray. Enter custom amount; in the memory box, choose other; and type in Robert Clineman. This money will go for research of brain tumors/brain cancer.
The arrangements are under the care and direction of Nassau Funeral Home, 541720 US-1, Callahan, Florida 32011. 904-879-1770. Visit www.nassaufh.com to sign the family's guest book.
