Braddock
Feb 10, 1930 — Jul 9, 2020
Braddock – Rita D Braddock, age 90, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on July 9, 2020. She was born in Haines City, Florida on February 10, 1930 to the late Wright Davis and Elise Sloan. She married the love of her life, Charles Braddock, on August 15, 1958, and they spent many happy years together. Rita was an entrepreneur and during her life she owned a clothing store, a flower shop, and a jewelry shop. However, her true passion in life was education. She became first woman to ever be a part of the Nassau County School Board and she worked as a secretary for Bryceville Elementary and Callahan Elementary. During her time off, Rita liked to travel and spend time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Most of all, Rita loved to serve others. She was very giving and was always taking care of others. She touched many lives with her kindness and will be dearly missed. Rita is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Braddock; and her daughters, Janis Braddock and Kimberly Braddock.
Rita is survived by her sister, Geraldine Carlson of Texas; her grandchildren, Trey Melvin, Alexa Melvin, Nicolette Cuthrell, and Charlie Patton; and her six great grandchildren.
