It's with a heavy heart, we announce the untimely passing of Peter James Rice, of Callahan, Florida. He passed away at the age of 53 on September 3, 2024. Pete was born on June 17, 1971, in Minnesota and moved to Jacksonville, Florida with his family early in his life.

Pete had an unsurpassable work ethic, spending his early years travelling the world as a Merchant Marine until 2001 when he started with Jacksonville Machine and Repair. In 2005, he continued his work in the marine industry with Tote Maritime.

Pete was a dedicated husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed spending his free time with his family and dogs. Pete spent much of his time fixing anything he could find and helping friends and family with their projects. His big smile and bigger heart will be greatly missed by all.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gisela (Bauersfeld) Rice; and brother, Michael Rice. He leaves behind his wife, Sandy (Whiddon) Rice; son, Joshua Rice (Hannah Sullivan); brother, Thomas Rice, aunt, Diane (Lawrence) Zgodava, and many cousins and friends.
