Obituary

September 26, 2019 the Lord welcomed Paul O. Parrish home.

The Lord knew He was gaining an angel that loved the Lord with every ounce of his being. A man that loved his wife, kids, grandkids, great grandkids, friends and some strangers with a Christ like love that was unmatched and sometimes undeserved. A man that you knew if he said "I'm praying for you" HE WAS!! A man that worked hard until the day he went home to be with Jesus.

But the Lord gained a "celebrity" of sorts as well. Paul O. Parrish (aka: Daddy, Papa, Brother Paul, Mr. P, Mr. Paul, Mr. Parrish) was the creator of the one and only "Guitar String Fred", a master bird house builder, the owner of the most magical workshop ever, the one who executed "dig turnip" and "ride a little horsey" with the grandkids better than anyone. The grower of vegetable gardens that somehow turned into a field of sunflowers, the self-taught guitar player that could entertain folks endlessly with old gospel hymns, the keeper of grandkids "secrets", the "sharer of snacks" and not telling Grandmother.

He was a "treasure" to those that had the fortune of knowing and loving him. Heaven is without a doubt brighter as a result of his arrival! And this earth is a little less bright as a result of his departure. Loved and cherished more than mere words can express, he will be missed immensely. We will "see you later Papa"!

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 68 years; Mary "Worm" Parrish, daughter; Brenda (David) Higginbotham, son; Paul G. Parrish, daughter; Cindy (Cliff) White, grandkids; Caleb, Justin (Danae), Randi, Erika, Patrick, Charli, Logan (Allen), Tyler (Jessie), Cullen, Joshua, DJ and Brett, great-grandkids; Audrey, Emily, Cayden, Savannah and Emma Kate.

A viewing will be held on Monday September 30, 2019 at First Baptist Church Callahan from 6-8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday October 1, 2019 at First Baptist Church Callahan beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Lynn Hyatt officiating.
