Obituary

Michael E. Overstreet, 76, of Kingsferry, FL passed away on Sunday November 3, 2019 at 2:29pm surrounded by family at his home.

He was born July 31, 1943 in Jacksonville FL to Henry and Mary Overstreet. He proudly served his country in the United States Airforce for 7 years during the Vietnam war. He was employeed at Anchor Glass and Container as an electronics technician until he reached retirement. He then went to work at Bennett Chevrolet in Kingsland, GA because he was tired of computers and wanted to work with people. He was a successful salesmanuntil he retired to home.

He was passionate about Veteran's Rights and supporting our military, a staunch Republican and Trump supporter. He was a connoisseur of fine cigars and an occasional Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer. He loved his home in Kingsferry, FL and resided there since 1975.

Mike was happily married to Tennette and was surrounded by family when he, as he put it, "went to the Promised Land". He was loved and adored by family, friends and the medical staff that worked with him during his illness. He was always ready with a great story and was known to drop pearls of wisdom -known as Mikey-isms- at the most needed but unexpected times.

From his days of dancing with his wife to Keith Whitleys "Don't close your eyes" at the famous Pines Bar to his days of renaming his attractive femal physicians, is his surgeon "Dimples", he never met a lady that he couldn't make smile or a man that would forever call him brother. He was the best of men, a son, brother, husband, daddy and granddaddy. He was loved by all and will forever be missed by those who loved him the most. His smile, laugh and usually off colored jokes will never be forgotten.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Mary Overstreet. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years; Tennette Overstreet, children; Amy L. Overstreet, Latresa (Lamar) Carroll, Jessica (Steven) Thompson, Matthew Crews SR. and Sarah (Justin) Trott, grandchildren; Holton L. Smith, Emily (Johnnie) Davis, Brayden Carroll, Isaiah Thompson, Brandon Thompson, James Trott and Matthew Crews Jr, siblings; Robert "Bob" Duckworth, Kathy (Mike) Allen and Donnie and De'Ette Kirkpatrick, 1 niece and 2 nephews.

Pallbearers will be Holton L. Smith, Brayden Carroll, Donald Kirkpatrick, Johhny Biellings, Steven Thompson and Justin Trott.

A viewing will be held on Thursday November 7, 2019 in the Nassau Funeral Home Chapel from 6-8:00 PM. Graveside service will be held Friday in the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 9:30 AM.
