Higginbotham – Maurice "Grumpy" Higginbotham, age 81, of Callahan, Florida passed away with his family by his side on June 18, 2020. Grumpy was born on August 17, 1938 in Jacksonville, Florida to Theodore and Hazel Higginbotham.  Grumpy loved NASCAR, his cows, genealogy and most of all he enjoyed his family and friends gathering at his home to visit with him.  Grumpy was a member of the West Nassau Historic Society, Florida Cattlemen Association, Masonic Lodge and Shriner.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Theda, Theodore, Betty, Robert, Elmore "Dink," Timothy "Timbo" and Russell.

Grumpy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy Deese Higginbotham of Callahan, FL; children; Donald (Gail), Gerald & Tracy, Bradford (Stephanie), Donna (Joe) Moore; sister, Omeria Davis; grandchildren, Jody (Stacy) Moore, Cory (Stephanie) Moore, Ryan (Kailee) Higginbotham, Amanda (Jason) Reins, Erin (Josh) Sing, Kendra Taylor, Josh Taylor; and 9 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Grumpy's life will be held Saturday, June 20, 2020 at    12:00 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church in St. George, GA with Pastor James L. Conner officiating. Interment will follow at Ogilvie Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.
