Higginbotham - Mary Violet Higginbotham, age 91, of Jacksonville, Florida gained her angel wings on May 3, 2024.  She was born on February 1, 1933, to William & Mary Danson.   She attended Callahan High School, she worked at Danson Dairy with her father and was a full-time homemaker.  Mary married the love of her life, Ray J. Higginbotham on June 10, 1949, and they shared 56 wonderful years together.  She was the mother of 4; Barbara Ann Higginbotham (deceased), Wayne Higginbotham, Elsie Anglea and June Kirkland. Mary loved spending time with her family, being outdoors, cooking, fishing, hunting, playing bunco, and gardening.   She was very well known for her homemade fruit cakes and her strawberry fig jelly. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray J. Higginbotham; brothers, John Henry Danson, William "Bill" E. Danson, Charlie Danson; daughter, Barbara Ann; and nephew, George Danson.

Mary leaves behind her children, Wayne (Nina) Higginbotham, Elsie (Del) Anglea, June Kirkland (Victor Musselwhite); grandchildren, Allison (Cliff) Hutcheson, Lesley (Wade) Kemp, Elayne (Kevin) Richey, Brian (Christie) Anglea, Justin Kirkland, Jame Kirkland; step-grandchildren, Trisha (Nick) Pilotta, Willeen Slay, Dana (Johnny) Lopez; 23 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Cliff Hutcheson, Brian Anglea, Justin Kirkland, Lance Pickett, Hunter Hutcheson, Bryce Woods, Garrett Anglea, and Michael Pilotta. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donnie Kirkland, Ray Miley, Billy Whitaker, and Dale Baldwin.

A Celebration of Mary's life will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Nassau Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Carter officiating.
