Obituary

Lewis – Marvin Wayne Lewis, age 74, of Hilliard, Florida passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, with his loving family by his side.  He was born to the late Johnnie Marvin Lewis and Nora Mae Powell Lewis on August 20, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida. Wayne was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served his country during the Vietnam War as a helicopter crew chief and took great pride in his work on "Chinook" helicopters. Wayne believed they were the "best ever made." He was a four-time cancer survivor. Despite the challenges he faced, Wayne never lost his sense of humor or his zest for life. Known for being a true character who "didn't have a filter," Wayne had a way of saying exactly what was on his mind. His candidness was part of his charm and endeared him to many. Wayne adored his family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them. He also had a wide circle of friends whom he valued immensely. Wayne made it a point to stay connected with those close to him throughout the years, always making time for a call or visit. Wayne was more than just a friend to those who knew him well. He was also an avid hunter who found joy in the outdoors. Wayne especially loved the sound of Beagles running through the woods. He enjoyed the camaraderie that came with fellowshipping with other hunters. Wayne enjoyed listening to music from the 1960s and 70s; tunes that brought back so many memories. He lived a life marked by resilience, humor, and deep loyalty to those he cared about. May Wayne's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John Eric Lewis.

Wayne leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Sharon Lewis; children, Amy (Robert) Thomas, Michael (Christen) Lewis; sisters, Lynn Gordon, Pam Johnson; grandchildren, Jacob (Sedaira) Higginbotham, Jamie Higginbotham, Kaylyn Lewis, Kenleigh Lewis; great grandchildren, Hunter Wayne Higginbotham, Ellie Mae Higginbotham; his beloved fur baby, Dixie; and several nephews, nieces and extended family members.
