Obituary

Louise Mikell, a beloved wife, mother, nana, grandmother, and great-grandmother, great-great grandmother passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on August 27, 1930, Louise lived a life filled with love, generosity, and deep devotion to her family. On August 29, 1946, she married the love of her life, James Wallace Mikell, Sr., and together they built a warm, welcoming home where family always came first. Louise cherished being a homemaker and found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace Mikell, Sr.; son, James "Jimmy" Mikell, Jr.; and grandson, Sean Mikell Smith.

Louise leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her children; son, Kenneth (Barbara) Mikell, and daughters Cheryl (Mike) McIntyre, Terri Bowen, and Tammy (Gary) Foxworth. She was a proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Louise had a heart that was as big as her love for her family. She was always there when someone needed her and would do anything to help. Louise was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She had a playful spirit and a passion for life—if the car was moving, she was in it, ready for the next adventure. Louise adored all dogs and would always want to hold and pet every one she encountered. And if you were lucky, you got to enjoy her legendary 9 layered chocolate cake—baked with love and remembered fondly by all who tasted it. Louise always wanted to be surrounded by family, and her presence brought warmth and comfort to every gathering. Her loving and giving heart touched countless lives, and her memory will forever live on in those she held dear. One of my fondest memories as a child was Christmas Eve at Grandma's house! We each had an ornament with our name on it to hang on the tree. A tradition I have carried on with my children and grandchildren. There were more presents than any of us ever needed, and a Nativity set in the front yard to remind us of what we were truly celebrating. We will miss you Mama, Grandma, Nana more than words can express—but this is not goodbye. It's see you later.

The tribute above was prepared by Louise's loving family.
