Linda "Nonni"
Green
Jan 7, 1953 — Mar 9, 2025
Linda 'Nonni' Green, 72, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Community Hospice Center at Baptist Medical Center South with her children by her side. Following a lengthy and hard-fought battle with lung and brain cancer, Linda ultimately won the war, entering the gates of Heaven reuniting with her loved ones.
Born January 7, 1953, to King and Bernice Gee in Gainesville, Georgia, Linda was the second of three girls. She spent most of her childhood in Gainesville before moving to Jacksonville. She attended North Hall High School. Upon graduation, she began working for the local telephone company where she remained for over 40 years until her retirement. Linda raised her children in Pickettville and while they were young, she was an active member of Pickettville Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and was adamant about her children attending church every time the doors were open. She took pride in being a second mom to many of her children's friends in Pickettville.
In her final years, Linda taught us all how to live. She was an adventurer and loved to try new things. She loved to dance, laugh and loved the beach. She eventually purchased her dream home on St. Augustine Beach where she enjoyed walking the shoreline and spent many hours on her balcony listening to the waves. She completed her bucket list, which consisted of many trips to various places ranging from Alaska to the southernmost point in the Florida Keys.
Linda never met a stranger, and most people instantly loved her upon their first meeting. She had a true kind spirit and a loving heart. She was happiest when she was making memories with her children, grandchildren and those she loved most. She will leave a deep void in our hearts and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her husband, Marion Pickett; husband, Walter Green, Jr.; sister, Virginia Smith; nephews, Bryan Hopkins and Brandon 'Meathead' Smith and a great-niece, Erica Smith.
Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Jan (Shad) Johnsen and Joseph 'Jody' (Jessie) Pickett; four grandchildren, Dustin Lane Capps (Faith Woerner), Tucker Earl Pickett (Kinley Bailey), Abigail Faith Pickett and Amber Taylor Capps; her partner Frank Costanzo; sister, Sue (Billy) Minshew; brother-in-law, Wallace Smith; nieces, Beverly (Scott) Hand, Deanna Smith and Kelly (Russel) Stevens; a nephew, Kasey (Samantha) Minshew; as well as many close friends and relatives.
The tribute above was prepared by Linda's loving family.
