Joshua David Edwards, age 39, passed away peacefully with family by his side on May 24, 2025. He was born on July 23, 1985, in Chattanooga, Tennessee and moved to Florida, shortly after.  Joshua made a profession of faith as a young teenager on a phone call with his Papaw Griffin. Shortly after high school, Joshua enlisted with the United States Army to serve the country he loved so dearly. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow soldiers and the fulfillment of being a part of a higher, greater cause. Joshua was also a huge sports fan, especially for the Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars. Joshua loved his family dearly but had a special place in his heart for his two nieces and nephew.  In the last days when he was so sick, they could make him smile and laugh when no one else could. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his beautiful smile and kind soul. Joshua is preceded in death by his father, Steve Edwards; uncle, Mike Edwards; paternal grandmother, Barbara Edwards; maternal grandparents, Jimmy & Elizabeth Griffin; bonus grandfather, Jerry M. Burns, Sr.

Joshua is survived by his mother, Faith Anne Burns (Marvin); brother, Stephen Edwards (Janey); sister, Sarah Burns; bonus grandmother, Ruth Burns; nieces, Callie & Norah Edwards; nephew, Jack Edwards, and many extended loved ones.

A Celebration of Joshua's Life will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Jesse Latta officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
