Obituary

Quinn - John W. Quinn, age 92, passed away peacefully at his home while under the care of his family and Community Hospice. He was known as Jack to his 8 siblings, other family and friends. Jack was born and raised in Ottumwa, Iowa. He joined the United States Army in 1954. During his 27 years, Jack served in Newfoundland, Korea, Okinawa, and Germany along with many other stateside assignments. At full retirement, Jack moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida where he was an avid golfer, volunteer with the Nassau County Sheriff's Department, and Baptist Nassau Hospital Auxiliary. Jack was a member of the American Legion and the VFW and was also active in St. Michael Catholic Church men's club, Knights of Columbus. Jack loved to travel, music, and dancing with Sara. He was a big man in stature, who to some, first appeared to be "gruff", but once you got to know him, was just a big "teddy bear".  Jack gave the best hugs too. He was preceded in death by his sons, Paul D. Quinn and Patrick D. Quinn.

Jack left behind his loving and devoted wife, Sara Jane McDonald Quinn. He was a loving father to his 7 children, Jeanne Bailey, Julie Crews, John M. Quinn, Catherine Faith and Carol Quinn; grandfather of 9, Sara Jordan, Jason Bailey, John Crews, Jessie Crews, Colin Quinn, Hannah Quinn, Jacob Faith, Claire Faith, Sean Davis; and great-grandfather to 2, Grace Jordan, Scarlett Jordan.

The tribute above was prepared by Jack's loving family.
