Joann Allen
Spivey
Aug 21, 1943 — Jun 23, 2024
Spivey – Joann Allen Spivey, age 80, of Callahan, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2024. She was born August 21, 1943, in Statesboro, Georgia to the late Jim and Juanita Allen. Joann had one of the warmest personalities you would ever come across in life. For many years she taught preschool in Duval and Nassau counties. Joann adored being around the children and giving them the best foundation to begin their education. She treated everyone she met with kindness and love. Her love would always shine through when she was cooking a meal for everyone. She would prepare enough for five even if it was just her and Monroe. Joann made sure if you were invited over for supper, you never left hungry. When she wasn't educating or cooking, she usually would be spotted enjoying a coloring book or spending time creating art by ceramics. Nothing compares to her love for her family and especially her grand-babies and great-grands. Joann was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jamie M. Spivey; brothers, Jim Allen and Johnny Allen.
Joann leaves behind her loving husband of 65 years, Monroe Spivey; children, Debi (Bill) Eason and Jody (Kathy) Spivey; brother, Jerry Allen; sister, Joy Wright; grandchildren, Jason (April) Eason, Jonathan (Christine) Eason, Brittani Eason, and Julian Spivey; great-grandchildren, Jay Eason, Julius Alvarez, and Eleni (Ellie) Shilling; and countless extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jason Eason, Jonathan Eason, Jay Eason, Jack Wright, Ricki Ford, and Chris Lynch.
A Celebration of Joann's Life will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan First Baptist Church with Dr. Lynn Hyatt officiating. Interment will follow at Jones Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The arrangements are under the care and direction of Nassau Funeral Home, 541720 US-1, Callahan, Florida 32011. 904-879-1770. Visit www.nassaufh.com to sign the family's guest book.
