Cushman – Margaret "Jewel" Cushman, age 74, of Callahan, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. She was born to the late Rudolph Britt and Margaret Maples Britt on September 16, 1949, in Lumberton, North Carolina. Jewel and the love of her life, Elvin exchanged vows on November 19, 1966, and were happily married for 57 beautiful years. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Gray Gables where she devotedly served as a Sunday and vacation Bible school teacher. She was also very dedicated and involved in various church activities. Jewel had a passion for sharing and teaching others about the word of God. She spent many years as a teacher's aide assisting the students at Hilliard Middle-Senior High School. Jewel was one of a kind with a warm and loving spirit. She was adored by all who knew her and will be missed immensely. Jewel is preceded in death by her parents; son, David Cushman; brothers, Danny Britt, Wayne Britt, William Britt; granddaughter, Destiny; nephew, Tommy Sada; and In laws, WT and Thelma Cushman.

Jewel leaves behind her loving husband, Elvin Cushman; children,

Dwight Cushman, Darryl Cushman, Melissa (Mike) Holland, Nicole Cushman; sister, Carol (Robert) Sada; grandchildren, Adam, Tiffany, Silas, Bryce, Tyler, Alyse, Dustin, Tabbatha, Erica, Colton, Gabriel; and 8 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Jewel's Life will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Gray Gables with Pastor Cody Page officiating. Interment will follow at Jones Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Nassau Funeral Home.
