James "Jim"
Hodges
Sep 18, 1940 — Oct 21, 2025
Hodges – James "Jim" Peairson Hodges, age 85, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on October 21, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 18, 1940, to the late Robert Lee Hodges and Pauline Barclay Hodges in Fulton, Kentucky. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, embracing the values of discipline and commitment that guided him throughout his life. After his military service, Jim settled in Jacksonville, where he became a devoted member of the community. For three decades, Jim worked at Florida Community College of Jacksonville, as a District Maintenance Supervisor. His professional contributions were matched by his spiritual devotion as a faithful member of Dinsmore Baptist Church, where he found strength and fellowship through faith. Jim was also a member of the Morocco Temple, upholding the principles of brotherhood and charity though his community involvement. Outside of work and service organizations, Jim found joy in supporting his family's activities, especially barrel racing. He cherished every opportunity to be present for those he loved. In his spare time, Jim could often be found tending to his farm. Whether caring for chickens or enjoying the company of his cats that roamed the property, Jim found peace in rural life. His farm was not just a place of labor but one of reflection and contentment. Jim was a passionate Florida Gators football fan, who followed his team with pride and rarely missed a game. Win or lose, Jim was a fan through and through. Jim's love for his family was unwavering. He treasured time spent with them above all else and took pride in being part of their lives. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life well lived. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Pauline Hodges.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife, Martha Hodges; brother, Ronnie (Lisa) Hodges; bonus daughters, Rhonda (Dink) Thagard, Crystal (Bo) Thornton; and bonus granddaughter, Paige Turner.
