James Ernie
Felder
Jun 7, 1958 — Jun 4, 2026
Felder – James "Jim" Ernie Felder, age 67, of Hilliard, Florida, was born on June 7, 1958, to Ernest Percy Felder and Johnsie Peele Felder in Hamlet, North Carolina. He retired from the United States Navy as Chief Boiler Technician after 21 years of service. Jim then pursued a career with VT Griffin, retiring 23 years as a Project Manager. He married Cathy Griffin, daughter of Harriett Chauncey and the late James D. Griffin, Sr. Jim and Cathy were blessed with almost 20 years of marriage together. They were inseparable, where there was one, there was the other. Jim was a dedicated and loving husband to his pumpkin and honey. Passionate for the outdoors, he could usually be found working on various projects around their home. Jim had the fondest memories fishing on the pontoon boat with his father who he affectionally called Pop. He devoted his free time tending to his farm of emus, ostriches, horses, chickens and a cherished bull. Jim was fond of his dogs, Cinnamon, Maggie, and Suzy Q who always returned much comfort. He enjoyed telling and playing jokes on those close to him. However, Jim's greatest title was Papa to his grandbabies. He loved playing and making them laugh and spoiling them as much as he could. Jim loved them so much that it cannot be expressed in words on how much he felt. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Johnsie and grandson Austin Schwartz.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Cathy; sons, Christopher (Amy) Schwartz, Aaron (Jessica) Schwartz, Brandon (Katelynn) Schwartz, and Landon (Tiffany) Schwartz; grandchildren, Trenton and Aubree Schwartz, Jacob and Mason Schwartz, Nayeli, Destry, and Colden Schwartz, and Peyton and Liam Schwartz; siblings, Russell Peele, Ronnie Felder, Katherine (Ronnie) Skinner, Anthony Felder, and Cynthia (Craig) Gordon.
The tribute above was written by Jim's loving family.
