James Alton Holmes "Jimmy", 73, of Callahan FL passed away on October 9, 2019.

James was born on February 26, 1946 in Goldsboro, N.C. to Alton and Ida Mae Holmes. He attended Andrew Jackson High School and he proudly served his country in the US Army, 173 ^rd Airborne during the Vietnam war. He was a maintenance mechanic for USG and retired from Colomer USA in 2008. Jimmy was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years; Brenda Holmes and his parents; Alton and Ida Mae, brothers; Charles Holmes and Tracy Holmes. He is survived by his daughters; Tamara Holmes and Stacia Anderson, granddaughters; Kaitlyn Anderson and Taylor Anderson, sister; Linda (Bert) Rhodes, sister-in-law; Libby Scaff, brother-in-law; Randy Taylor, special friend & companion; Jennifer Hand and her son; Kevin Hand, several nieces and nephews

A visitation will be held on Sunday October 20, 2019 in the Nassau Funeral Home Chapel from 5-7:00 PM. Graveside service will be held on Monday October 21, 2019 at River Road Baptist Church Cemetery beginning at 11:00 AM.
