Jones – Henry Eugene Jones, age 85, of Callahan, Florida went home to be with his Lord and Savior and bride, Inez on Saturday, March 25, 2023.  He was surrounded by his loving family. Eugene was born in Yulee, Florida to Howard Eugene Jones and Beulah Hodges Jones.  He was the oldest of four children.  Eugene was raised in the Birdville community in Jacksonville, Florida and was in the first graduating class of Paxon Senior High School. He eventually settled in Callahan, Florida.  Eugene served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard for 30 years. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years.  Eugene was a loving husband of 55 years to his bride, Inez, a loving father to his two children, a granddaddy, a great granddaddy, a loving brother and the best uncle ever.  He was a Deacon at Callahan First Baptist Church where he served and loved his church family.  Eugene enjoyed camping at Camp Blanding, traveling in his RV and riding thrill rides at Disney as recently as December 2022. Eugene is preceded in death by his by his parents, Howard and Beulah Jones; his loving bride, Inez Jones; grandson, Bradley Jones.

Eugene is survived by his children, Karen (Robert) Crews, Stephen (Krista) Jones; grandchildren, Todd Jones, Kevin (Courtney) Crews, Kate-Lynn Crews, Chelsea Bullard; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Rose Jones, Delilah Jones, Hartley-Ann Crews, Sunny Scheu; brother, Kelly (Linda) Jones, sister, Gloria Jones Mathis; baby sister, Bonie Jones Mistler; many nephews, nieces, and friends.

Eugene will be most remembered for his faith and love for his Lord and Savior, his outstanding character, integrity and his deep love for his family and country.

A Celebration of Eugene's Life will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan First Baptist Church with Dr. Lynn Hyatt officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.  Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Nassau Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation https://www.kidneyfund.org/ in Henry Eugene Jones' honor.  The arrangements are under the care and direction of Nassau Funeral Home, 541720 US-1, Callahan, Florida 32011. 904-879-1770.
