Conway- Hazel Jeanette Conway, age 84, of Callahan, Florida passed away on November 7, 2022.  She was born in Charleston, South Carolina on June 28, 1938, to the late Barry Parker Causey and Sarah Smith Causey.  Hazel went to hair school in the 1960's and was self-employed as a hairdresser until the late 1990's.  She then decided to stay at home and care for her grandchildren until 2002 when she started working for the Nassau County Sheriff's Office. Hazel finally retired for good in 2012.  She moved to West Virginia and lived there for a few years but decided to move back home to Callahan, Florida.  Hazel enjoyed quilting, fishing, cooking big dinners, shopping, and spending time with her family who she loved dearly.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her heart and soul.  Hazel will be missed for many reasons but mainly for her great hugs, sweet words and always praying for everyone.  Her family is thankful for the knowledge that she was saved and is now in the loving arms of Jesus along with her family and friends that have already passed on.  Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Conway; sons, Ronald Kelly, Frank Kelly, John Kelly; brothers, Earl Causey, Jim Causey; sisters, Ethel Kennedy, Brenda Cornwell.

Hazel leaves behind her daughter, Lori (Duane) Cooper; grandchildren, Frank (Tracy) Kelly, Jeremy (Megan) Cooper, Sarah (Michael) Mills, Kimberly (Daniel) Kelly; great grandchildren, Gracie, Braiden, Hadilyn, Cooper, Owen, Peyton, Addison, Jacob; brothers, Robert (Freida) Causey, Bubba Causey, Johnnie (Teenie) Causey; sisters, Pam Gauze, Annie Slater, Mary Lou Kendall.

A Celebration of Hazel's Life will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Nassau Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Jones Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Nassau Funeral Home, 541720 US-1, Callahan, Florida 32011, 904-879-1770.
