Obituary

Harry Truman Mixon, age 79, of Hilliard, Florida, was called home to his Lord and Savior on August 30, 2026. He passed away peacefully in his sleep while surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Born in Patterson, Georgia, on March 1, 1947, Harry was a Vietnam Veteran. He proudly served his country in active duty from 1966 to 1968, and was in the Army reserves until 1972. Harry began working for Stone Container, Yulee, Florida, at 19 years old and retired in 2000, after nearly 34 years.

Harry was known to be hardworking, a ‘little’ stubborn, hardheaded at times, and even a bit wild ‘back in his day.’ He loved to take his kids hunting and run the dogs, but more than anything he loved to relax at home with his family. Harry was a devoted husband, a cherished brother, loving father, and the best Papa. “Papa” was his favorite title of all. He loved his wife and family fiercely.

Harry fought and overcame many battles in his life, but he never lost his faith in the Lord. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

Harry is preceded in death by his father, John Frankie Mixon; mother, Geneva Barber; aunt, Elvira (Wade) Barber; siblings, Geneva Mixon, Johnny Earl Mixon, Henry Everett Mixon, Talmadge Theodore Mixon, and David Carroll Mixon; cousins, Robert Everly, Junior Everly, and Wesley Barber.

Harry is survived by, his wife, Jessica Mixon; brother, Willie (Faye) Mixon, son, Brad (Tara) Pitts, two daughters, Amanda Mixon and Kala Mixon; grandchildren, Shelby Havis, Morgan Mixon, Corey Haviland, and Bryce Pitts; Aredell Carter, also known as “Mom,” to the family, and many nephews and nieces.

The tribute above was prepared by Harry’s loving family.
