Thornton - Ernest "Phillip" Thornton, Jr., age 76, of Callahan, Florida passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 9, 1949, to Ernest Phillip Thornton Sr. and Gladys Farmer Thornton. Phillip loved hunting and belonged to a local hunting club. He also loved visiting the beach and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. In his spare time, Phillip enjoyed watching the Florida Gators and his favorite television show, Gunsmoke. He was considered a fixer, as he could do handy work on just about anything and is regularly remembered for his contributions in going out of his way to help his loving family, any time. Phillip's dedication to those he loves shines through his beautiful friendship with Lisa. In addition to 36 years of their friendship, this companionship seeps deeply into his relationship with Skyler and Chandler, Lisa's sons. Phillip is preceded in death by his parents; Ernest and Gladys.

A Celebration of Phillip's Life will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Nassau Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Cox officiating. The loved ones will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
