Elizabeth "Liz"
Ferguson
Nov 9, 1973 — May 1, 2026
Ferguson – Elizabeth "Liz" Maria (Danforth) Ferguson, age 52, of Callahan, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026. She was born in Schenectady, New York to the late Frank Danforth and Roberta (Daunt) Danforth.
Liz was a remarkable soul whose presence made the world gentler, warmer, and more connected. She was the kind of person who made others feel seen, not in grand, dramatic ways, but in quiet, steady acts of kindness that left a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Liz's love for horses was more than a passion; it was a reflection of who she was. She admired their strength, their grace, and their spirit and in many ways, she carried those same qualities within herself. Whether Liz was spending time in the saddle or simply talking about them, there was a light in her that couldn't be missed.
But what defined Liz most was her love for people. Her friends were her chosen family, and she treated them with loyalty, humor, and an open heart. She showed up again and again whether it was for moments of celebration or times of quiet need. Liz's family was her foundation, and she cherished them deeply, never missing a chance to remind them how much they mattered.
Liz had a rare instinct to help others without being asked. It wasn't about recognition or reward; it was simply who she was. If someone was struggling, she noticed. If someone needed support, she gave it. Liz carried other people's burdens as if they were her own, easing them in whatever way she could.
Liz's absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her spirit endures in the countless lives she touched. In every act of kindness inspired by her, in every shared memory that brings both tears and laughter, she remains with us.
Liz taught us, by example, how to love more openly, how to give more freely, and how to live with quiet courage and compassion. And though she is no longer by our side, her legacy continues in the way we care for one another…just as she always did.
Liz is preceded in death by her parents; and her in-laws, Robert and Gayle Wells.
Liz leaves behind her loving husband of 26 years, Heath Ferguson; children, LeVaughn "Robbie" (Miranda) Wright, Spencer Ferguson; brother, William "Bill" Danforth; grandfather, Cecil Wells; grandchild, Wrenley Wright; nephews and nieces, Taylor Rae-Danforth, Cheyenne Danforth, Bryan Price, Matthew Gilbo, Madilyn Cain; brother in law, John Wells, sisters in law, Heather Ferguson, Lisa Wells; and countless friends who loved her.
The tribute above was prepared by Liz's loving family.
