Doreen "Dory" Rose, age 63, of Callahan, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at UF Health Jacksonville. She was born on March 14, 1963, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late Kenneth and Betty Martin. At the age of five, Dory moved with her family to Florida, where she spent the rest of her life. She attended William Raines Senior High School in Jacksonville, Florida and later built a fulfilling career that reflected her passion for nature and nurturing others. For 12 years, she worked at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, where her dedication to wildlife and conservation shone brightly. Following her time at the zoo, Dory devoted two decades to Sonshine Christian Academy before retiring. Her work there left a lasting impact on countless lives. Dory's faith was central to her life. Dory's love for the Lord guided her every action and was evident in her kind and compassionate spirit. She was always ready with a warm hug or a prayer for anyone in need. A lover of nature, Dory found joy in gardening and caring for her plants. She loved bird watching, with hummingbirds holding a special place in her heart. Dory's hardworking nature and willingness to help others made her someone you could always rely on. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dory is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Michael Rose; daughter, Moriah Rose, and her siblings, Theresa "Lynn" Sapp, Kathy Barkley, and Charles Martin.

A Celebration of Dory's Life will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Live Oak Baptist Church with Pastor David King officiating. Interment will follow at Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
