Darrell K. Henderson, 79, died Thursday, December 26, 2019 at his home in Hilliard following a brief illness.

He was born in Hilliard, Florida on December 31, 1939 to Kermit and Anna Henderson.Darrell worked hard and laughed harder. He took pleasure in the time he spent working and developing his land, tending and nourishing his orange grove, and taking an occasional fishing trip. He told stories and told them well, and he enjoyed an occasional practical joke. His laughter was intense, and he genuinely loved life.

Darrell leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Pat Henderson; his children—Craig, Becki, Steve, and Jennifer (Victor); his fierce canine companion, Joker; his grandchildren, C.J. and Kelsey (their mother, Karen); and three great-grandchildren: Klayton, Kazmera, and Kayleia. Darrell is also survived by his sister, Maybell Schultehenrich; his brother, Johnnie Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers—Marvin Henderson, Thomas Johnson, and Frederick Johnson.

Darrell was a great friend, brother, father, granddaddy, and husband. He will be greatly missed and always loved the most by those he leaves behind.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday December 31, 2019 at the Nassau Funeral Home Chapel from 10:00am to 11:00am. Funeral service will begin at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery.
