Hester - Carolyn Pridgen Hester, age 93, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2023, at Baptist Medical Center South with her loving family by her side.  She was born in Pridgen, Georgia on October 23, 1929, to the late George Pridgen and Carrie Stalvey Pridgen.  Carolyn grew up in Douglas, Georgia where she met and married her forever companion, James F. Hester.  They were married for 55 years and had 4 beautiful children.  Carolyn was known for her caring nature and love for others.  She was a caregiver for years for many of her elderly relatives, friends, and neighbors as well as her grandchildren.  Carolyn was a Christian woman who loved the Lord and her family more than anything.  She was a longtime member of North Shore Christian Church and enjoyed attending church services, listening to gospel and country music, and reading. Carolyn was affectionately known as "Granny" and was a blessing to all who knew her.  She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, George Pridgen and Carrie Stalvey Pridgen; brother, Mose Pridgen; and husband, James F. Hester.

Carolyn is survived by her sons, Donald (Debbie) Hester, David Hester; daughters, Janice Miller, Joann (Foster) Bryant; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; niece, Shirley Fulford.

The Hester family would like to express their appreciation to Carolyn's extended family at Life Care Center of Hilliard for the wonderful care they gave her during the last four years.

A Celebration of Carolyn's Life will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Nassau Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Stutzman officiating.  Interment will follow at Salem Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery in Douglas, Georgia.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  The arrangements are under the care and direction of Nassau Funeral Home, 541720 US-1, Callahan, Florida 32011. 904-879-1770.
