Candy
Bowman
Sep 6, 1952 — Dec 26, 2023
Bowman – Jeanette "Candy" Hagen Bowman, age 71, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on December 26, 2023, at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital after a courageous battle. She was born on September 6, 1952, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Bert W. Hagen Sr. and Francine E. Grantham. "Candy" as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, was a mother of four, a Gram to twelve grandchildren and a Great-Gram to one great-granddaughter. Candy enjoyed the Christmas holiday and shopping for Hallmark ornaments. She spent the last days of her life playing Yahtzee, watching Little House on the Prairie and could beat just about anyone at a good game of Jeopardy. Most of all, Candy loved her grandchildren fiercely and they were her pride and joy. Though Candy's health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy in life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through the pain. Candy surpassed the doctor's expectations in her very own feisty spirit. She is preceded in death by her late husband, William E. Bowman; two half-brothers, John Hazouri and Kenneth Hagen, and brother-in-law, Herb Ayars.
Candy is survived by her children, Christie (Tim) Willingham, Matt Blanchard, Nicole Maddox, Adam (Amelia) Bowman; 12 grandchildren, Lindsey Helton, Matthew and Kendall Blanchard, Braylin Howell (Colby), Blake, Mitchell, Macy and Karly Maddox; William, Waylon, Weston, and Walker Bowman; one great-granddaughter, Kelsea Keener; two brothers, Bert (Lyvonne) and Johnny (Chris) Hagen; sister, Annette Ayars; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, and friends, especially Donna Greathouse, her longtime best friend.
As Candy's family, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Candy's best-friend Donna "Dooner" Greathouse for the friendship and support that you extended to our mother, grandmother, and sister. Donna's unwavering presence and genuine care made a profound difference in her life, and we are eternally grateful for your compassion and friendship.
