Smith – Bruce James Smith, age 85, of Callahan, Florida passed away on December 5, 2023.  He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late Lloyd Smith and Evelyn Powell Smith on April 27, 1938. Bruce retired from JEA as a serviceman.  During his time at JEA, he met the love of his life, Wendy.  They worked in different departments however it was love at first sight when their paths crossed. Bruce and Wendy wed on October 7, 1978, and were happily married for 45 years. Bruce has been a resident of Callahan, Florida for 42 years and was proud to call it home.  He enjoyed collecting old black powder guns and piddling with cars but could never figure out how to fix them.  Bruce's passion was woodworking.  He was very meticulous and a perfectionist when it came to his wood projects and had to have things just right.  Bruce built many things for their home that Wendy can now hold on to and treasure.  He had a heart of gold and will be dearly missed.  Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; son, Sean Smith; daughter, Debra Smith; brother, Richard Smith; sister, Joyce Bird; stepmother, Rose Smith.

Bruce leaves behind his loving wife, Wendy Smith; daughters, Veronica (Scott) Smith, Denise (Jeremy) Schuler; brothers, Michael (Debra) Smith; sister, Lisa; grandchildren, Heidi (Conner) Hanks, Josh Tuthill, Justin Smith, Gavin Smith, Lance Smith; multiple nephews and nieces; beloved dogs, Ghost and Halo.

A Memorial Service for Bruce be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Nassau Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Barney officiating.
