Anderson - Betty J. Anderson, age 79, of Hilliard, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, May 2, 2024.  She was born in Blakely, Georgia on February 9, 1945, to the late Joseph W. Jones and Mary C. Jones.  Betty was a stay-at-home mom until her children were almost teenagers.  She then worked in the dietary industry at Baptist Medical Center downtown Jacksonville for 22 years and retired in May 2000. Betty was one of the best mothers and grandmothers you could ever have.  All who knew her loved her and everyone called her Gma.  Betty never met a stranger and was always willing to help others.  She enjoyed dancing, doing puzzles and spending time with her family.  Big family gatherings were her favorite.  Betty will be deeply missed by everyone who knows her. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bobby Jones; sister, Mary L. Betts; and granddaughter, Brittany Grimes.

Betty is survived by her 3 daughters, Teresa (Timmy) Fedick, Barbara Starling and Mary (Victor) Grimes; 4 grandchildren, Joshua Courchene, Christie (Austin) Van Zant, Joseph Courchene and Carrie (Marcus) Mullis; 7 great-grandchildren, Chloe Mullis, Danica Courchene, Aubrie Van Zant, Parker Courchene, Jace Van Zant, Dallyn Courchene and Leland Mullis.

A Celebration of Betty's life will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Nassau Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The arrangements are under the care and direction of Nassau Funeral Home, 541720 US Hwy 1, Callahan FL 32011, 904-879-1770.
