Obituary

Thompson – Bea Thompson, age 82, of Callahan, FL, was welcomed home by Jesus on October 10, 2020 at Life Care Center of Hilliard.  She was born on June 7, 1938 to the late Claude and Erma Lee Hutto.  She was a graduate of Andrew Jackson in 1956, and worked diligently for Atlantic/First Union Bank for 30 years before retiring in 1997.  She enjoyed worshipping her Savior at Callahan First Baptist.

Bea's life verse truly was Romans 12:11 which says, "Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord."  Legacies like Bea Thompson's cannot be fully realized on this side of Heaven… for the world holds little value in them.  Bea loved Jesus and that love flowed first to her husband, children, and extended family, and then out to those who daily crossed her path.  She lived a simple life but exhibited an extraordinary love.  Her children continue to reap the benefits of a childhood home where love dwelt.  Her friends continue to relish the precious memories of her as one that is a true friend.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren inherit memories of a Mema who will be remembered by her love of Jesus, love for others, and her hardworking spirit.

True obedience is shown by how we work when no one is looking but the Lord.  The seeds of love for Jesus that Bea scattered during her day by day ministry on Earth are not those that can be measured through fame, money, attention or position.  Her service in the Lord was steady, humble and tender.  Even in her last years at Life Care she continued to bubble the love of Jesus out to everyone she met.  She was faithful to the end and was loved by all who knew her.  May her life challenge you, as it challenges us, to live each day humbly unto the Lord for His Glory, Honor and Praise.

Bea is preceded in death by her husband, Russ Thompson; her two sisters, Doris Wiggins and Iris Fryer; and her brother, Jerry Hutto.

Her love lives on in her brother, Terry (Frankie) Padgett; her children, Darrell (Paula) Thompson, Gay (Richard) Ross, Debbie (Bill) Hagan, Randy (Julie) Thompson, and Keith (Paula) Thompson; her 14 grandchildren and her 10 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Bea's Life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2020 at Callahan First Baptist Church, 45090 Green Ave, Callahan, FL 32011, with Pastor  Lynn Hyatt officiating.  Bea's grandsons will be acting as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the church.  Interment will follow after the service at Jones Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the FBC Food Pantry, P.O. Box 605, Callahan, FL, 32011.  The arrangements are under the care and direction of Nassau Funeral Home, 541720 US-1, Callahan, Florida 32011. 904-879-1770.
