Strickland – Ameila "Priss" Strickland, age 80, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on August 4, 2023.  She was born on September 21, 1942, to the late Jospeh B. Jones and Julia H. Thomas Jones. Priss grew up in Callahan and was proud to be a lifelong resident of this community. She spent many years working for the Duval County Public School System as a school bus driver. Priss was an incredibly loving and compassionate person. Now, she did have an "inner Momma Bear mode" that would come out when she was provoked and usually the only thing that would provoke her was if someone messed with her children. Priss was wonderful with children and very involved in their lives. All the neighborhood kids would gravitate towards her family and spend time at her house. She always had a house full of kids and became a second mother to all of them. Priss is dearly missed and will always be remembered for her kind, sweet, and self-less spirit. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hubert Benson Strickland, Sr.; sons, Pete Dwayne Strickland, Terry Lamar Strickland; brothers, Ralph Jones, Raymond Jones, Richard Jones.

Priss leaves behind her loving son, Hubert Benson Strickland, Jr.; brother, Fred (Glynda) Jones; sister, Nadine (Jimmy) Mercer; grandchildren, Hubert Benson Strickland, III, Joshua Matthew Strickland, Felicia Marie Elliott; several great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and extended family members.

A Celebration of Priss's Life will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Nassau Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Taylor officiating.
